I prefer the B&W Extend-A-Goose Gooseneck Coupler, # BWTEXA4200. If you attach this inner tube to your gooseneck trailer you will get an extra 10" of clearance between your truck cab and trailer. This fits the standard 4" inner diameter outer tubes and ball size of 2-5/16"

According to B&W, the distance between the base of the foot of the #BWTEXA4200 Extend-A-Goose coupler and the offset is 7 inches, so the coupler should work fine in the 12 x 12 or 14 x 14 recess your gooseneck ball sits in.
