Comparing Demco Hijacker and Pullrite Superglide Fifth Wheel Hitch for 2017 Ram 2500
Question:
Can you please tell me which auto slide fifth wheel hitch is better for my 2017 Ram 2500 short bed? Ive been told to pick one with double jaw but it appears both of these are single jaw. Does that matter? Thanks,

The things that the 18K Demco Hijacker # DM8550034 and the 18K SuperGlide have in common are that they both offer 14" of travel, they are both automatic sliding 5th wheel hitches, have 2-point pivoting hitch heads, are compatible with industry standard base rails, and they are both rated to tow up to an 18K trailer. Both 5th wheel hitches come with a 5-year limited warranty as well.
Although they both have the single-jaw system to lock the king pin into place, the SuperGlide hugs it against the side of the head whereas the Hijacker has an extra piece that locks it directly in the middle of the hitch head. The Hijacker also has a 3/4" thick, solid steel locking bar to reinforce the connection and give you peace-of-mind.
The Hijacker has 3 different height settings: 15-1/4", 16-1/2", and 18" when compared to the one 18-1/2" height setting of the SuperGlide. This makes the Hijacker much more versatile for different towing situations.
The hitch head on the Hijacker also includes built-in brackets that stabilize your pin box. This eliminates the need for a separate capture plate for standard, non-cushioned pin boxes like what the Pullrite requires.
To top it all off, I found that the Hijacker is much more cost-effective than the SuperGlide. Great quality with more features and for less money is always a win in my book.
The rail kit you'll need to install the hitch in your 2017 Ram 2500 short bed is the part # DM8552025-71.

There has been a great deal of changes since I had last towed a fifth wheel. Currently I am towing a trailer with a half ton truck. I have had to just use a ball hitch only for the angles I would have to be in at times where a equalizer system would hamper me greatly. I am up grading and I have been looking at both Demco and Pullrite for their automatic sliding convenience. Now my dilemma is that I still have to be in cases where I would have to be at an angle to the pin box when disconnecting or hooking up. I have heard that in either case of the above mentioned hitches that you have to be straight on for connection or disconnection, your thoughts?
