Is A sliding 5th Wheel Hitch Needed For A 2022 Ram 2500 Short Bed With OEM Puck System

I have a 2022 ram 2500 short bed with the puck system in the bed. Is it better to used a fixed hitch or a sliding hitch to be able to fully turn?

We typically recommend that any beds in the 6-1/2' to 6-3/4' range used a sliding hitch and bed shorter than that used a fixed hitch with a rotating pin box to enable enough clearance to make a full 90 degree turn.

Since you have a 2022 Ram 2500 with a 6-1/2' bed you'll want to use a sliding hitch like the B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # BWRVK3670. This hitch is has feet designed to drop right into the puck system in the bed of your Ram and a slider base to provide an additional 12" of turning clearance.

If you don't want to have to get out of your truck to engage and disengage the slider base then we also have the Demco Autoslide 5th Wheel Hitch # DM89GV.
