2 inch Outer Diameter A-Frame Trailer Jack Recommendation

Question:
My vintage trailer is about 1500 lbs dry but the only jack with a 2inch outer tube is for 1000 lbs. It was mentioned to drill the hole larger. Were talking about a 1/4inch thick or more iron tongue. How can the hole be drilled larger? This would be great and I could use the standard jack with a 2.25inch outer tube but Im skeptical of drilling the iron.

I have good news, our trailer jack that has a 2 inch outer diameter part # DL74MR would fit and work well. While it has a 1,000 lb weight capacity that does not mean 1,000 lb total trailer weight capacity. That capacity is the tongue weight capacity which is normally 10-15 percent of the total trailer weight.
So your trailer would be looking at around 150 lbs of tongue weight which would be no problem for this at all.

We have the same issue. Need 2inch diameter but also we want the shortest retracted size to be less than the “8 1/2”” shown on the illustration. We need it to be around 4” to not drag on the dip as we are leaving our driveway. Do you have a recommendation?
