Thule Roof Rack - Crossbars - TH711500 Review

Today we're taking a look at the Thule Wingbar Evo crossbars. Now these cross bars are quiet, low profile cross bars that let you build an after market roof rack for your vehicle. The cross bars work with Thule foot packs and fit kits to create a roof rack for mounting various accessories to the roof of your vehicle. Now these bars have some really great features that make them premium bars. For instance, they feature the tapered trail edge shape, so a little bit thicker up front, a little bit more narrow or thinner at the back. The trail edge shape creates an extremely aerodynamic system.

They also have the built-in wind diffuser. So you can see that rubber stripping here. Now there's a couple things about this rubber stripping that really breaks the wind or disturbs airflow over the bars to dramatically reduce wind noise and vibration. We have the stripping itself which creates a breakpoint in the bar. So you can see there at the top of the bar how that rubber sticks up a little bit.

Also, they have these little triangle patterns the full length of that rubber stripping. That's really going to help disturb the airflow as it breaks over the bar, which again dramatically reduces wind noise and vibration as you head down the road. Also, it's an aero style bar which again it's very aerodynamic. And that's going to help maintain fuel efficiency. These are known to be full length cross bars. So that means that they will extend past whatever foot packs you have them mounted on.

The full length cross bars really help maximize the amount of space for your carriers and accessories. Now these bars will accommodate accessories that will mount in the T track or that clamp around the bars. So we have the dual rubber quick access strips in the T tracks. This design lets you easily install channel mounted accessories. There's no trimming required.

All you have to do is pivot the swing blade end caps up and then slide your accessory in here. So you can see there how that's a break design. It's two pieces of rubber that meet up so as you place your T track in there, you can just slide it in where it needs to be on your bar. Very simple, very easy design. On the bottom of the bar, on each side, we have the bottom track that lets your easily install the bars onto Thule feet. The slide right here, this is a measurement slide that helps center the rack on your vehicle when installing and doubles as an under bar aerodynamic cover. It also comes with other track covers to fill any gaps you may have on the other side of the foot pack once installed. We're looking at a really nice heavy duty light weight aluminum construction durable and rust proof. Now internally . I have another bar here just to show you. Internally, we have the box beam internal structure. This creates a very, very heavy duty durable strong bar. Now when it comes to the dimensions of the bar, each one measures 3 1/8 inches wide. So that's basically your front to back measurement. Bottom to top is 1 1/8 inches tall and then these bars are available in a variety of lengths. You can view all the lengths available at etrailer.com. Weight capacity is 220 pounds and Thule covers this product with a limited lifetime warranty. And that's going to do it for today's look at the Thule Wingbar Evo cross bars.
