Question:

are there any cargo baskets like the Yakima load warrior that doesnt require crossbars. This is for a 2015 forester xt with side rails. Thanks.

You are correct that most rooftop cargo baskets, including the Yakima LoadWarrior # Y07070 that you referenced, do require that the host vehicle have either factory or aftermarket roof rack crossbars. However, there are specialty baskets offered by Surco that can mount to a vehicle without crossbars as long as it has raised side rails. All of these baskets feature lightweight aluminum construction and a weight capacity that is limited to that of the host vehicle's roof. All are USA-made.

The smallest of these Surco baskets is the # SPS4550-1101 which measures 50- long x 45- wide x 5-inches deep. Surco also offers an 84- x 50-inch version, part # SPS5084-1101.
