Troubleshooting Powered Steps on a 2008 Holiday Rambler that will Not Fully Extend or Retract
Published 09/02/2014 >
Question:
Have a Holiday Rambler 2008 MH. The unit has a SCS/Frigette Electric Coach step double step. All of a sudden the step will not extend/retract As it should. The step goes back and forth in short Spurts for several seconds and then stops. Will Not lock in any position.

We don't carry the SCS/Frigette brand of steps so it's a little hard for me to troubleshoot the problem you are experiencing, but it sounds like the gears of the steps are jamming up which is preventing the steps from moving more than just a little bit. What I would recommend you do is get underneath it and inspect the gear assemblies to be sure there isn't anything stuck in the gears or that the gears themselves have been damaged.
You might also check the condition of the wiring. A bad ground or connection might cause intermittent movement of the step.
If you determine that your steps are permanently damaged replacing them with the part # LC3726891 would be an easy solution. This is a triple step though.
