Question:
I have a module 164889 electric step on my motorhome. We had a blowout on the right rear tire and the Good Sam Roadside Service man removed the rear tires and unfortunately the motorhome slipped off the jack and hit the right rear on the pavement. The step is slightly bent now. When I open or close the step the motor continues to run for a few seconds as though the stops are not set properly. The purple wire is only attached to the control unit and from your video I understand that it is for the light switch but I cannot find a place to attach the loose end. Does this wire also control the stops for the step extension and retraction of the step?

The Replacement Control Module for Lippert Electric Coach Step # LC301702 has the purple wire that connects to the door light switch. The other end of the switch # LC301694 connects to the Replacement Wiring Harness for Lippert Electric Coach Step # LC301692. I've attached a wiring diagram to assist.
The control module is what shuts down when the steps strike an object. It sensing that would have to do with the purple wire you stated because the step will extend or retract based on that switch unless bypassed by a manual toggle switch.
