Larger Wheel and Tire Recommendation for Small Boat Trailer
Updated 08/13/2014 | Published 08/11/2014 >
Question:
I have a very small boat trailer with fairly small wheel. Four lug as I recall, probably about 12 inch wheels. I would have to measure and get the details. So, if I wanted to put larger wheels and hubs so that the tires would be larger and make less revolutions and not burn out the bearings so fast, how would I go about figuring out what I have spindle wise and what I could get that is larger and compatible? Thanks.

You can increase the size of the tires and wheels on your small trailer without having to worry about replacing your hubs. When shopping for new, larger wheels you will just need to stay with the same bolt pattern as your current wheels. I am including an article which will help you to determine your current bolt pattern.
Since you are looking at increasing the size of the tire, you will need to measure to determine how much room that you have available for a larger tire.
If the 4 on 4 bolt pattern is correct, the Loadstar ST175/80D13 Bias Trailer Tire with 13 Inch White Wheel, # AM3S120, might be what you are looking for. This tire has an outer diameter of 24 inches and a section width of 6.6 inches.
Feel free to send me an email with your bolt pattern, size of current wheel and tire, and the clearance measurements for a larger tire and I would be happy to give a more specific recommendation for you.
