Best Option for Carrying Bikes with a 2012 Honda Civic

Published 08/08/2014

Question:

Hi, I have a SportRack for my 2008 Honda Civic which I traded in for a 2012 Honda Civic but the rack does not seem to fit as well, i.e. the weight of the bikes sank down on the bumper and made a dent. Is there any adjustment I can do for this problem ? Thanks.

Some vehicles have soft bumpers that can dent easily when carrying a trunk mounted bike rack. For these vehicles we strongly recommend the use of a hitch mounted bike rack as this will make no contact with the vehicle.

For a hitch for your 2012 Honda Civic you would want the Curt Hitch part # C113914. I attached an install video for you to check out. You will also need a stabilizer strap # 18050 which is required by the Curt hitch to stabilize unsupported loads.

The most popular bike rack we carry that would work well for you would be the Swagman XTC2 bike rack part # S64670. See the review video I attached.
