Which Ebike Carrier Can Carry 2 Trek Allant +7 Ebikes Behind Flat Towed Vehicle?

Updated 10/23/2026 | Published 10/22/2026

Question:

We have two Trek Allant+7 e-bikes and currently use a Thule bike rack, previously purchased from you, to transport them. We absolutely love the design of this bike rack. We recently bought a camper and are planning on flat towing a Ford Maverick. We are looking for a bike rack of similar quality to the Thule, which we can attach to the Maverick for transporting the bikes. The plan is to remove the rack in between trips, and frankly, use the Thule rack when not flat towing. What suggestions do you have? Thank you in advance

Hey Glenn!

The Hollywood Racks RV Rider # HLY64FR would be an excellent choice for your setup. It's specifically approved for flat-towed vehicles and can carry two e-bikes weighing up to 80 lbs each, so your Trek Allant+ 7 bikes should be well within its capacity.

It also has locking frame clamps, adjustable wheel holders, and an anti-rattle system to keep everything secure.

It's unfortunate that you can't use the Thule rack for flat towed applications, but they just don't rate it for that.

Do you happen to know which Thule bike rack model you currently have? Sounds like you have had good luck with it so far.

Finding the best combination of bike rack, (dual) hitch, tow bar, and vehicle is involved. I have a class C (Sprinter) towing a Fiat. The Sprinter has a 2" receiver and the Fiat 1.25". I was carrying 2 regular bikes on the Fiat when flat towing. However I now have a heavy e-MTB plus the regular bike which is too much for the rack on the Fiat. I saw a setup like mine last month but with a dual hitch on the RV carrying both the bike rack and the tow bar. Sweet! So I got the Hollywood rack and a 6" drop dual hitch. The tow bar ended up being too low with that arrangement. I then got a dual 4" drop but then found out there wasn't enough clearance for the tow bar body beneath the bike rack. Unfortunately while the Hollywood rack is very solid, it is more manual than the other name brand racks (it takes a bit of unscrewing bolts and repositioning the upright stabilizer bar to load or stow) and wouldn't fit this set-up. I had to go with a different bike rack (rated for RV use and e-bikes) and a 2" & 4" rise/drop hitch from eTrailer. Everything is now perfect. Fortunately I was able to sell the unused Hollywood rack this week to someone who was looking for this exact model of RV rated e-bike rack. They were very happy, as am I. So the message is, if towing, consider the clearances and 3" safety range of your tow bar. If it all fits, the Hollywood rack should work great for both the RV and Maverick since they have 2" hitches.

@Jonathan Thanks for sharing your situation Jonathan! Yeah it can be tricky with the tight clearance on things like that, but I'm glad you found a setup that works for you!

We purchased the Hollywood Racks RV Rider # HLY64FR to haul our two Lectric step-through e-bikes. We have loved it, very easy to load and secure the bikes. We use the rack on our 2026 Honda CRV and have not had any issues. Previous to this we were folding the bikes, putting them in 40 gallon totes and hauling them in the back of the CRV with the back seats laid down. Now using the Hollywood Rack makes it easier for my wife and I to load and unload the bikes.
