It sure can Joni and welcome back. The Wall Mount for 2" Hitch Accessories item # C97DR will indeed work with a bike rack and bikes. This wall mount has a 350 lbs capacity so it will have no issues supporting the weight of your bike rack and bikes so long as you stay under this weight limit.

The Wall Mount item # C97DR comes with two hefty lag bolts, as long as you land each of them on a stud you'll have no problem with the weight of your bike rack and bikes. There's two hitch pin hole slots as well so you've got some flexibility when attaching one of them.

What kind of bike rack and bikes do you have? Feel free to answer this and throw in any other questions you have, where it says Add Comment.

One other question regarding this, it's been suggested to add a 36" 2x6 as a backer board across three studs would this be helpful. I'm putting it in an unfinished garage

@Joni No, it wouldn't. You'll want to attach the item # C97DR directly to the stud.

I just received the curt wall mount hitch and the instructions say to do a pre-drill drill of 1/8 in but I cant get the lag bolt to start so Im wondering if the 1/8 is too small. My husband used to do this but since he passed away Im having to do it and I cant figure it out. Please help. Thank you

@Joni Sorry to hear about your husbands passing Joni. Since the Wall Mount for 2" Hitch Accessories item # C97DR comes with 3/8" lag bolts you can use a 15/64" or a 1/4" drill bit for a larger pilot hole. When I install lag bolts I use a short socket and push against the bolt/wall as I'm screwing it in. That helps the threads on the lag bolts grip better.
