Are the legs removable? Can it be mounted on an open, wood frame instead of the steel legs? Is it a springinch base instead of foam cushions on a wood platform?

They sure are Dan. The legs are indeed removable on the Thomas Payne RV Jackknife Sofa and Kickboard item # TP44AR. It can definitely be mounted on a wooden frame instead of the included metal one.

The Jackknife Sofa item # TP44AR has internal springs along with high-density foam padding. It actually has a steel frame instead of a wooden one.
