Updated 10/15/2026 | Published 10/12/2026

Question:

Hi, Im interested in purchasing the ADARAC Pro Series Matte Black Ladder Rack Part A86RR for my 2018 Ford F-150 Lariat with a 5.5 bed. I currently have a Gator hard tri-fold tonneau cover that mounts inside the bed rails. Before purchasing, could you please confirm: Will this rack work with my existing tonneau cover without interfering with its operation? Thanks for your help!

Hey Donte! Yes, the Adarac Pro Series Ladder Rack # A86RR will fit your 2018 Ford F-150 Lariat with the 5-1/2' bed and work with your Gator hard tri-fold tonneau cover.

The Adarac mounts on top of the bed rails using the stake pockets, so it won't interfere with your tonneau cover mounted inside the rails. It also has vertical uprights that allow you to fold the cover open without hitting the rack, so you'll still have full access to your truck bed.

What are you planning to carry on the rack?

I have a 2015 Ford F-150 Sport Edition with 5-1/2' bed. My Adarac Pro Series rack was installed into the stake pockets and rides on top of the bed walls. I expect it would fit any tonneau cover if it's installed inside the bed rails. I discovered, after install the rack, that my garage door is about 1-2inches too short. The rack would rub on the trim pieces along the top of the garage door opening. In order to pull my truck into my garage without doing damage to the rack or door trim, I have to take the rack off. You can leave the side rails installed and re-attach the rack later. I have also found some t-nuts that allow me to attach eye-bolts or tie-downs to the side rails. That allows me to secure things that sit above the sides of my truck, keeping the tonneau cover closed.

@BobK thanks for sharing your experience! That's a good reminder to check garage clearance before installing a ladder rack. Glad you were able to find a way to make it work with your setup.
