Updated 08/17/2026 | Published 08/10/2026

Question:

Is this rated for 2 e bikes on a travel trailer? If not which is the best rack for 2 Aventon explorer e bikes on the back of a travel trailer?

Hello Dave,

I am glad you wrote in! Using the right bike rack on the back of a travel trailer is really important. Not every rack that is rated for an RV is rated for a travel trailer, and using a rack that isn't approved for that application can result in damage or failure and can also void the rack's warranty.

Unfortunately, the Kuat Piston ION E-Bike Platform Rack # KU89SR you were looking at is not rated for use on the back of a travel trailer, so I would not use it for your setup.

Instead, I recommend the Yakima OnRamp LX Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes # Y88DJ. This rack is rated for use on the back of a travel trailer and can handle up to 80 lbs per bike in this application. It also includes a ramp, which makes loading and unloading heavier e-bikes a whole lot easier. The frame-mount design gives you flexibility in where you secure the bikes, which is especially helpful with the different frame designs you can run into with e-bikes.

Kuat does have the Transfer V2 Bike Rack # KU84FR that is rated for use on a travel trailer, but its capacity is reduced to 40 lbs per bike in this application. For a pair of heavier e-bikes, the higher capacity of the Yakima # Y88DJ makes it the option I would go with.

I think the # Y88DJ will be a great setup for taking your Aventons along with the camper.

Getting things geared up for the final summer adventure? Where are you headed to next?
