Question:
I need to replace the OEM trailer receiver hitch on my 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500 Crew Cab 4WD 2.7L Turbo I4 Short Bed. It has the tow package, but the whole receiver hitch brackets, arm, square tunnel needs to be replaced, so the bit about part 14019 not being compatible with factory installed tow packages should be mute. That being said, when I called CURT and spoke with a rep, they mentioned that they can’t guarantee part 14019 will fit. They suggested 15307, which is a Class V with 16,000lb tow capacity. That seems excessive, seeing as how much truck is only rated for 9100lb. Which part should I get? Thank you in advance!

Hey Hannah, thanks for reaching out. For your 2021 Silverado 1500 Crew Cab 4WD, I recommend going with the Curt Class V # C15307. Curt specifically designed this hitch for Silverado 1500s equipped with the factory hitch, while the # C59UR (14019) is intended for trucks without the factory setup. Since Curt themselves pointed you toward the # C15307 for your configuration, that is definitely the direction I’d go.
Don’t let the 16,000 lb hitch rating scare you off. That is simply the maximum capacity of the hitch itself and does not change the towing capacity of your Silverado. Your truck’s 9,100 lb rating remains the limit, so having a heavier-duty receiver just gives you a stronger hitch with plenty of capacity in reserve. For your truck, # C15307 is my pick over the # C59UR.
What will you be using the hitch for?

Sir, I will likely need to send this back. If that’s the case, I’d like for the return shipping to be covered, as I specifically stated to both CURT and etrailer before purchasing that the factory hitch needed to be replaced. As in, uninstalled and taken off. This C15307 apparently gets ADDED TO the OEM factory hitch. If I have to return this, I’d please like etrailer to send the return label to the email attached to this thread and the original order. Best regards, Hannah
