Will The Thule TracRac SR Work With The RetraxONE MX Hard Tonneau Cover RTX47FR?

Updated 10/08/2026 | Published 10/07/2026

Question:

Hello, good evening. I have a question: I wanted to know if the side rails are made of metal, because I want to install this Thule TracRac SR Sliding Truck Bed Ladder Rack system with cantilever and base rails – 1,250 lbs – Black.

Hey Alfredo, thanks for reaching out. The RetraxONE MX # RTX47FR has aluminum side rails, not plastic. The retractable cover itself is made from aluminum-reinforced polycarbonate, but the rails and tracks running along the sides of the truck bed are durable aluminum.

Also, the RetraxONE MX # RTX47FR is compatible with the Thule TracRac SR Sliding Truck Bed Ladder Rack system. The tonneau cover leaves the stake pockets open, and that is what the TracRac SR rails attach to. The tonneau rails and the TracRac rails will be touching up against each other, but you'll be able to install both without issue.

What will you carry most? Ladders and lumber, or kayaks and camping gear?

Good morning. The racks I bought are rated for 1,250 pounds, and I plan to use them to carry lumber and ladders. I notice that the rack rails would sit above the rails on the bed cover; do you sell any kind of leveler or shim I could use to level out the rack rails?

@Alfredo We don't sell any shims for that here, but I have heard of people making their own out of a small piece of steel or aluminum.
