Looking For Replacement Fenders For Trailex Aluminum Trailer With 15" Wheels

Updated 10/07/2026 | Published 10/05/2026

Question:

I have a mid-2005 or so Trailex aluminum canoe/kayak trailer. They recommended these as replacement fenders since they no longer stock the original ones. I don’t see how these could work even with the brackets you recommended. I’m attaching a photo of the existing fender mount and hoping you can recommend a fender + bracket if needed replacement. If you don’t have a bracket that would work maybe you could recommend a fender that could work if I could make my own presumably just from a straight piece of angle iron or aluminum. It has 15” wheels. Thanks in advance.

Hey Steve, thanks for writing in. I do have a fender that should work well for you, but the Tie Down Plastic Fender # TD32VR is for 8" to 12" wheels, so I am not seeing that as a good option for your Trailex aluminum canoe/kayak trailer with 15" wheels. Instead I recommend the following:

- Single Axle Trailer Fender w/ Backing Plate - Steel - 14" to 15" Wheels - Qty 1 # HP36VR

This comes fender has a backing plate so you could either weld or bolt it to the fender brackets in your picture. It is made for 15" wheels, so tire clearance will not be an issue. Overall the fender measures 9" Wide x 32" long x 15" tall so I suggest comparing these dimensions to your trailer and making sure everything matches up on your end.

Do you want to match the original Trailex look, or prefer a sturdier style?

I’m good with the original look as I getting the trailer ready to sell so probably less expensive that way. I’ll check the measurements and if they look good, I’ll order the ones you recommended. Thanks for the quick response.

@JesseM Actually those look too big for my trailer. I don’t see a way to attach photos to this reply so I’ll send another reply to the fender you recommended.

@SteveC These fender will work with that bracket I would think. My deal looks similar to yours. From the bottom of the fender to the bolt hole on my plate is about 7.5”.

I bought around 60 of these fenders for a commercial project that worked well. They were useful on a trailer frame that was similar to a wood splitter trailer. The reason it was easier for us, is that we welded them on a steel frame and didn't have to worry about any other type of mounting. We will continue to use them for our purposes as they work really well on the builds we do. They cover the 14 inch standard trailer tire very well.

We had to cut and widen the fenders 3"-4" for my trailer restoration as they were too narrow. Otherwise they worked out fine.
