How to Remove an RV Exterior Light Lens Without Breaking It

Question:
Vengeance 2014 320A toy hauler, need to get cover off an oblong outside light. it is on the front kitchen side near bedroom, has water inside and looks awful. how do I remove cover without damage to the lens.

Hey Edward, thanks for reaching out. Without knowing the exact light model, I can't say exactly where the release points are, but most of those older oblong RV porch/utility lights use a snap-on lens rather than screws through the face. Look along the bottom edge of the lens for a small notch or slot. Use a small flat-blade screwdriver or plastic trim tool in that notch and gently pry the bottom edge outward, then lift the lens off the tabs along the top. I would not pry against the middle of the lens since older plastic gets brittle and cracks pretty easily.
Since you already have water inside, once the lens is off, I recommend drying everything out and checking the housing for cracks. Also inspect the sealant around the light base where it meets the RV wall since that is often where the water gets in.
