Why Does e44KR Sit Further Behind the Bumper on 2001 Chevy S-10?

Question:
Why does the hitch sit further in under the bumper on a 2001 Chevrolet s10? I’ve owned multiple hitch’s and they usually come flush to the face of the bumper or past a little bit.

Hey Jacob!
The etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e44KR is designed to sit a little farther underneath the bumper on your 2001 Chevy S-10. That positioning comes down to the hitch design and the factory mounting points available on the truck, so it isn't an indication that the hitch is too short or installed incorrectly.
It does mean you'll want to keep that extra setback in mind when choosing a ball mount or hitch-mounted accessory, since some accessories may need a little more clearance from the bumper.
Are you planning to use the hitch for towing a trailer or carrying something like a bike rack or cargo carrier?

Well it's like this. The trailer hitch I purchased fit perfectly and bolted in place like a glove on my hand . It was well designed ! From what I read in post the hitch he is getting is designed for best fit for his S10 it sets back further under frame for a reason . To keep you from skinning up your knees and calves . Hope this helps .
