Availability of Female 6-Way Tester for Roadmaster Wiring

I purchased a Roadmaster Nighthawk All-Terrain Tow Bar in 2020. Its worked great. But recently its stating to act up. I bought a backup cable to protect us while traveling. The main reason I bought this system is because the cable is integrated into the bar. Im going to purchase a new 6 point plug to replace the old one go to the toad. This is my question, why cant a find a male 6 point tester? It would make checking my plug so much easier.

Hey Phil! This is a pretty uncommon testing situation, and the demand just isn't there to make a female 6-way tester for flat tow wiring. To check the wiring running through the Nighthawk # RM-676, your best option is to plug the 7-way into the motorhome and use a circuit tester on the pins at the 6-way end while you run through the different light functions.
If you find the cord itself is the problem, the Replacement Power Cord # RM-1676-7R is designed for the older Nighthawk with amber LEDs and includes the wiring that powers the lights on the tow bar. If yours has red and amber LEDs, you will need # RM36NQ instead.

I purchased the wire replacement kit for our night hawk. It was a fairly easy exchange. I would go an extra step and make sure the wire connections are tight at both plugs. I started having issues with one blinker light on the toad and found loose wires in the plug on the front of the toad. Good luck.

Having a good multi-meter to test continuity through your entire power cable is indispensable for this job as well as many other circuit problems in your rig. 6-ways are notorious for poor connections into stranded wire such as comes on the Roadmaster cable.

I may do that. We've been living full time for 6 years. In fact this will be our 7th season heading to Texas. I just recently switched vehicles and the 6 pin was fussy. I've got it working so I may just replace it this winter.
