Question:
I am looking for help in verifying my axle type to replace the idler hubs and bearings. I have a 2005 Stratos trailer for a Stratos 486SF. The axle serial number is A245875. The current hubs have a 5 on 4.5 bolt pattern with a 2.328 bearing hub cap. I have tried to reach out to Dexter, but I have not received a response. Thank you in advance for your help.

Hey Brent! I'm not sure you will hear back from Dexter on that, A245875 doesn't look like one of their serial numbers. None of that other information can be used to verify which hubs will fit either. However, based on the weight of the boat, and the fact that you have 5 on 4-1/2 hubs, it is likely a 3,500 lb axle.
Assuming that is correct, you can use the Trailer Idler Hub Assembly # AKIHUB-545-35-K as a replacement. This uses # L68149 (1.378" inner diameter) for the inner bearing and # L44649 (1.063" inner diameter) for the outer bearing. I recommend verifying this against your existing bearings or spindle to be sure. If you would rather have a galvanized hub since it is a boat trailer the # CE13515 will work as well.
Any big trips coming up with the boat before summer wraps up?
