Will BX1725 Baseplate for 2021 Chevy Spark LS Work With Blue Ox Tow Bar?

Updated 09/08/2026 | Published 08/30/2026

Question:

Good day. I purchased a blueox tow system from etrailer in 2020 but cannit find the purchase info. I will be towing a 2021 Chevrolet Spark LS and intend on purchasing the BlueOx Tow frame for that vehicle. Will the tow bar I already have fit the vehicles tow frame? Thank you

Hey Stewart!

I wasn't able to find your original order, but a Blue Ox baseplate for a 2021 Chevy Spark LS would be compatible with a Blue Ox tow bar purchased in 2020. I'm confident in this because Blue Ox has being making the current style of tow bars with the tab style connections in the mid-2000s, but I would want to confirm the style of towbar that you have just to be sure.

With that being said, the correct baseplate kit for your Spark LS is the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit # BX1725. This kit is specifically designed to fit 2019-2022 Chevy Sparks with manual transmissions and the LS and ACTIV trim levels, but it will require trimming some fascia to fit on your car properly.

Do you know the name of your tow bar? If not, could you send me a photo of it? I can use that to confirm the compatibility of the tow bar with this base plate kit.

Yes the Blue Ox Base plate is the same for your 2021 spark. The Spark front bumper is the same from 2016 to 2022. I have a 2022 spark and I have the BX1725 Base plate. They also make another one that states it only fits 2019 thru 2022 later facia style B054FR which I don't know anything about it does look different in shape and has welded on square cubes mounting the removable clevis pins. Look on ETrailer and check out the pics of both Base plates and you will easily tell which part you bought in 2020. Both will fit your 2021 spark either way. Hope that helps. Base plate was an easy install the battery disconnect took some modification to make it a solid professional OEM look. Getting the wires thru the gromet behind the 12v battery is really hard to gain access too. I wanted the push button from inside the car to disconnect the battery. Hookup time is so easy you will be waiting on your friends to get there cars hooked up. Lol

Sorry I thought you purchase a Base plate already but did not know what part number you had bought. Just buy the BX1725 and you are done. Doesn't matter which tow bar on the rv you own. It just has to have Blue Ox clevises. That connect to the alum. Removable pins that come with the base plate. Sorry for my confusion on your original question.

@William I appreciate your expertise and advice. How often do you flat tow your Spark?
