Thanks for writing in.

You are correct. I would not recommend using the B&W Digital Tongue Weight Scale # BW34KR with a McHitch coupler. The McHitch uses a different coupling design than a standard ball coupler, and I cannot confirm that it can sit securely on the scale. I attached an image of the scale in use with a standard coupler so you can visualize what I am talking about.

A good alternative is to take your setup to a CAT scale. First weigh the tow vehicle by itself, then weigh again with the trailer connected and the weight distribution bars disconnected. Subtract the combined steer and drive axle weight of the tow vehicle by itself from the combined steer and drive axle weight with the trailer connected. The difference is your tongue weight.

For example, if the tow vehicle weighs 6,200 lbs by itself and the steer and drive axles total 7,050 lbs with the trailer connected, your tongue weight is 850 lbs.
