I have a BandW78fr. I beleave thats the rite far as the leveling its grate but for sway control not much. IT seemed to do good the 1st trip but we just got back from the 3rd and it was a hand full .

Hi Richard,
From your order history it looks like you purchased the BW44BR back in September of 2025. The B&W Continuum part # BW44BR is an underslung weight distribution hitch rated for 1,600lbs of tongue weight and has an extra-long shank. Because the hitch worked well the first time and then became progressively less effective over later trips, it sounds like the hydraulic pressure is set to low. Or if you've towed with other campers or reduced the tongue weight it would result in the hydraulic pressure needing to be adjusted.
To properly set the hydraulic pressure you'll need to measure from the ground to the top of the front wheel well. Then couple the trailer, connect the Continuum, retract the trailer jack completely, and measure the front wheel well again. You'll need to check your manual to determine what your Front Axle Load Restoration (FALR) is and use it to find the correct height the vehicle should be at under load. For example, if the front went from 40" unloaded to 41" coupled, it rose 1". At 75% FALR, you'd want to bring it back down 0.75", giving a target measurement of 40.25". That gives you your target height to adjust the hitch to, so then you can pump the handle to increase the pressure until the wheel well height hits your target. Make sure you write down what pressure you're at and check that the hitch is still at the correct pressure before you tow.
