Can etrailer Anti Rattle Device be Used with Tesla OEM Hitch

Updated 08/14/2026 | Published 08/09/2026

Question:

Subject: Compatibility of etrailer E38FV with Tesla OEM Hitch Hello, I’m interested in purchasing your etrailer E38FV Anti-Rattle Hitch Collar for 2” Hitch Receivers. I have a 2024 Tesla Model 3 Highland RWD with a 2” hitch that was purchased through Tesla and installed by Tesla after the vehicle was manufactured. It is the hitch/accessory that Tesla sells through its official online store. My main reason for choosing the E38FV is that I would like the anti-rattle collar to remain installed on the hitch, while allowing me to easily remove and reinstall my Thule EasyFold XT 2-bike rack without having to remove the anti-rattle device. Could you please confirm: 1. Whether the E38FV is compatible with the Tesla hitch sold and installed by Tesla 2. Whether the collar can remain permanently installed while the bike rack is removed and reinstalled. Thank you for your help. Ps: Do you have any authorized dealers or distributors based in Canada where I could purchase the E38FV? Best regards,

Hey Sylvie, yes the etrailer anti-rattle device part # e38FV does work with the Tesla hitch you have installed on your Model 3. This can also be left installed at all times as well. The EasyFold XT part # TH903202 can also be used with this but your bike rack already has an integrated anti-rattle device so it wouldn't be needed with it. Why are you wanting to run both at same time?

Hi Jameson, Thank you for confirming that the eTrailer anti-rattle device (part # E38FV) is compatible with my Tesla hitch. This is actually my first bike rack, so I’m not sure what is considered normal. I find that the bikes move quite a bit while they are mounted on the rack. Would the E38FV anti-rattle device help reduce this movement, or is it normal for the bikes to move this much even though the EasyFold XT already has an integrated anti-rattle mechanism? I just want to make sure everything is properly secured and normal. Thank you for your advice! Sylvie

@SylvieB Makes sense! Yeah the movement is actually not from where the hitch attaches to the bike rack most likely and is instead between other parts of the rack. You can test this by manually moving the rack when it is installed in the hitch and see where you see the movement happening. Sometimes moving the hitch manually while tightening the bike racks anti rattle system can get that last bit of movement out of the rack.

@JamesonC Thanks for the advice! I’ll do those checks and see where the movement is coming from. I really appreciate your help!

Useless and waste of money for my situation. I pull a 22' Airstream and the hitch, rusted almost immediately, and the tightening mechanism was difficult to turn. When I was able to get it secured it started to wear a groove into the trailer goose neck.

I got the anti-rattle device because I picked up a special hitch from Harbor Freight that enabled me to tow my boat with my bike rack installed into an upper receiver on the hitch. So, I wanted to stabilize the special hitch to stabilize my Yakima bike rack. My bike rack has a wedge that keeps it from bouncing when it's installed, so I might not need the anti-rattle device if I didn't use the special hitch. I leave the anti-rattle device installed on my hitch receiver full time and use it on whatever I install in the receiver. It requires no tools to operate and only takes a few seconds.

I have the anti-rattle hitch and it works as advertised. My only gripe is that the stainless hardware started rusting in the first month. (I do not live on the water). I guess it’s made from chinesium.
