Question:

I have a 2020 Ford F150 FX4 which came with a factory lift. I was wondering if the Sumo Spring SS28UV would work for my truck. I didn’t know if these springs are mainly for stock lifts. I only need them for occasional towing my travel trailer which has a 700ish lb tongue weight. Maybe a little more with cargo in the bed for longer trips. I was hoping to smooth the ride a little bit when towing longer distances. I also use a WD hitch system with sway control, but I would like to beef up the suspension more to help with the oscillating and occasional bottoming out when towing.

Hey Brian! The SumoSprings Solo # SS28UV are designed for stock height. They will fit, but they aren't going to engage properly because of the lift so they won't work the way you want them to. SumoSprings doesn't offer spacers for their kits, so you will want to go a different route.

What I recommend instead is the RoadActive Suspension Custom Leaf Spring Enhancement Kit # RAS3611-Y. These mount on your leaf springs so they won't be impacted by the lift from the FX4 package. These will give you the extra support you're looking for when towing, and won't ruin your day to day ride quality when you aren't. They also help prevent sway, body roll, and reduce the wear on your suspension and tires.

The RAS stem worked well on our '23 F150 and was not particularly difficult to install for someone with moderate mechanical skills and the proper tools. I have since traded our half ton truck for a 3/4 ton, since we were over the legal weight limits pulling our 28' trailer.

@BrianG you're welcome! The RAS has 2,000 lbs of support and is adjustable as well. That should be plenty for your tongue weight plus whatever you might be hauling in the truck bed on those longer trips.
