Brake Controller Recommendation for 2001 Chevy Silverado 1500

Question:

I have a 2001 Chevy Silverado 1500 pickup. Id like to know what brake controller will specifically work for my truck. Tekonsha P3 Prodigy 90195 Tekonsha P2 Prodigy 99885 Which wiring harness? AND/OR Brake-EVN Draw-tite? 8508220 Which wiring harness? AND/OR Redarc Tow-pro Liberty. Im not quite sure on these units even after plugging in my vehicles information. I have the factory wiring harness for the controller but the wiring ends are pigtails.

Hey Ray, this is a great question but the short answer is the Redarc Tow Pro Liberty part # RED52VR is the best option. Not only is it the best performing option available it is also the only controller from the list you mentioned that is still available since the rest of the controllers you mentioned are discontinued.

So to install this controller you would also need the part # C51342 which will plug into the brake controller install port under you dash but you will need to cut off the black connector and wire it by color to the universal harness that comes with the Redarc and you'll be set. Redarc doesn't make a harness for your truck at this time which is why this is the way to go. What are you planning on towing?
