Recommended Roller Setup for Carrying Canoe on Roof Rack

Updated 08/03/2026 | Published 07/28/2026

Question:

Love your T channel roof rack roller system. Want to add it to my canoe roof setup. Need it longer….about 40 inches. You have them in longer lengths, or a shorter second one maybe? Thanx Dennis A.

Hey Dennis!

We don't currently offer a roof rack roller that's around 40" long, but we do have a few options that may work for your setup. The best option depends on the crossbar system that you currently have on your truck, but you can go with either the Thule Roof Rack Roller - 25-9/16" Wide # TH39PF, the Thule Roof Rack Roller - 44-1/4" Wide # TH99PF, or else the Yakima Ladder Roller # Y01163, which is 25-3/4" wide.

The important thing to keep in mind is that neither of these rollers is universal. The Thule Roof Rack Roller # TH99PF and # TH39PF are designed to fit Thule ProBar Evo crossbars (such as # TH34FR37FC) and Yakima HD bars (such as # Y01156). The Yakima Ladder Roller # Y01163 fits a wider variety of crossbars, including Yakima HDBar, JetStream, FlushBar, and RailBar crossbars, along with many other common roof rack systems. It is not compatible with Front Runner SlimPro or Rhino-Rack Heavy-Duty crossbars.

What roof rack and crossbars do you have on your vehicle? Once I know that, I can confirm which roller will fit and whether using two rollers or a single wider roller would be the better option for your canoe.
