What Sealant Should I Use When Replacing an RV Roof Vent?

Updated 07/29/2026 | Published 07/25/2026

Question:

Hi etrailer, I'm replacing the original roof vent on my fifth wheel with the Ventline Ventadome Roof Vent. Is Dicor the right sealant to use after I get everything bolted down?

Hey Mike! Yes, Dicor Self-Leveling Lap Sealant # DC94SR is exactly what I recommend for roof vent installation. Whenever you're working on a roof, self-leveling sealant is almost always what you want to use. Install the # V2092SP-28 over butyl tape like # DC38SR first, then apply the Dicor over the mounting screws and around the flange to create a weatherproof secondary seal.

Which roof vent are you replacing?
