Will an Enclosed Cargo Carrier Interfere with Backup Camera and Sensors on 2011 Infiniti QX56

Question:

Hi,I have infiniti QX 56 year 2011 same as infiniti QX 80. Will GearDeck 17 Hitch Mounted Cargo Carrier fit in my car. My car equipped with a camera in the back along with sensor to help in parking the car. Is Geardeck 17 Enclosed Hitch Mounted Cargo design in term of the size and height so it doesnt block the camera view and sensors? Best regards

Due to the location of the backup camera and sensors, the GearDeck 17 Enclosed Cargo Carrier # H00604, and all other enclosed cargo carriers will interfere when backing up. Like your QX56, most vehicles with backup cameras and sensors are located in the bumper and around the lift gate handle. Because enclosed carriers install in the trailer hitch, they block most of that area.

The only way to use an enclosed cargo carrier and have full use of your backup camera and sensors is to use a roof mounted cargo box like the Thule Force XT Sport Cargo Box, # TH6356B. You must have a roof rack with crossbars to use a roof mounted box and you will be limited to the weight capacity of your roof which is typically significantly less than a trailer hitch.
