Will Redarc RED53CR Work For A 2025 Infiniti QX80 With The Factory Tow Package?

Updated 07/22/2026 | Published 07/16/2026

Question:

The Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller w/ Custom Harness - Dash Knob - Up to 2 Axles – Proportional Part Number: RED53CR Shows to be compatible with a 2025 Infiniti QX80. The vehicle is pre-wired for a brake controller and has the 7-pin cable socket. Do I need an additional wire harness kit for the brake controller. It looks like the wire harness kit TP-014 may already be included. Just wanting to confirm, prior to purchase. Mark W

Hey Mark, thanks for reaching out. Sounds like you are on the right track here. The Redarc # RED53CR is exactly what you'll need for your 2025 Infiniti QX80, and it does include the TPH-014 custom pigtail.

That said, it looks like Infiniti doesn't always include the tow package relays or the actual 7-way socket in their tow package, so if you don't have those you'll also need the CURT 7-Way/4-Way Trailer Connector and Relay Kit # C34FR72ZY to complete your installation. That would be the only additional part you'd need aside from what's included with the brake controller.

What kind of trailer will you be hauling with your QX80?

The QX80 has the Sensory trim level that is pre-wired with a 7 pin socket. I am pulling a 2024 Intech Sol Dusk.

@MarkW Nice! I'd recommend just making sure the tow package relays are in place. If yours has the factory 7-pin the SHOULD be there but it sounds like they aren't always included so as long as you check that you'll be good to go.

@JesseM Thanks for the information. I am also considering the Redarch Tow Pro Link as well. This would prevent having to drill a hole into the new dashboard to install the gain adjustment knob.

@MarkW Oh nice that's a good call too. Its super easy to install and just like you said no drilling to the dash. The Tow-Pro Link # RED57AR is a new controller and I've been hearing nothing but good things about it so that definitely a good call.

I have purchased a couple of these Redarc Controllers for various vehicles and I always buy the custom wire harness. Once you locate the vehicle plug, usually taped up around the steering column, it literally just plugs into vehicle harness and into the controller. Simple and clean! Vehicles typically come with a plug to bare wire pigtail, but you have to find that, and then connect that to the controller's included plug to bare wire pigtail. Wire identification, solder/crimp, shrinkwrap = hassle & ugly.

Looks like your selected Redarc model may already include the custom pigtail. 1st one I bought many years ago did not.

@DavidC Yep those custom pigtails are a great convenience. Glad to hear you are liking the Redarc controller. Thanks for sharing!

If you purchase this for the nissan frontier and some other nissans, note the nissans are reverse wired from the factory. You need cross wire the + - to have it function properly.

@Robert Ah you know, I have heard of that. Definitely something to look out for. Thanks for the tip!
