Comparing AMPlock and Proven PL5 Fifth Wheel King Pin Locks

Question:
I have looked on your website for an Amlock king pin lock for my fifth wheel and you do not have the one that amplock shows on their site. They suggest the LPC-VR. Why dont you list this one. Which lock is the best between the amplock LPC-VR and the Proven PL5, or is there something better?

Hey Mike, our part number # AMP77FR is the same as the Amplock part number # LPC-VR so this is the lock you are looking for and is a really great option.
While we don't carry the Proven PL5 I checked it out and while it's a very similar design it uses a tubular cam style lock instead of the rotating disc lock that the AMPlock has which also has a cover for the lock opening. I've had bad luck with tubular cam locks that are out in the elements so I would recommend the AMPlock.

I have the Amplock in my fifth wheel. While - to my knowledge no one has ever attempted to break it, it seems very sturdy and the locking mechanism works smoothly after being exposed to all four seasons of weather. I’ve owned it 18 months. The locking mechanism works cover keeps bugs out of the locking chamber. No regrets here.
