Hi, everyone. Aiden here at etrailer. Today, we're gonna be taking a look at this replacement gooseneck ball for your factory puck systems on our 2022 Ram 2500. Now, you can, of course, get this in the full kit that comes with the ball and the safety chain loops, but this is going to be just the replacement ball. So, if yours has become damaged or missing and you need to replace just that part, then this is the video for you. Let's check it out.
Now, this is designed to work with Ram and Super Duty trucks from Ford. So, if you've got a different truck this isn't the video for you. This is just to confirm that on our 2022 Ram 2500 that this is a fit and it's gonna function just like the old one did. You've got that ball bearing underneath that becomes locked whenever you throw that latch on top. So, that's how we pop it in and out of that factory puck system and lock it in place, and it's gonna give you the same 30,000 pound gross trailer weight rating.
It's got the same chrome plated steel construction so that chrome plating should help it resist rust and corrosion over time, but that is something to watch out for. If it does scratch away, then it may be susceptible to that wear and tear from weathering. And that's all there is to it. Again, this does get offered in a full kit with everything you need to get started if you're building from the ground up. This is just for a replacement.
Since there's nothing that really locks this in from people grabbing it, that might be something to consider, but even if it just becomes worn down over time, this is the replacement. So, if you need any of the other pieces, then you can look at those replacement videos, too. Gooseneck ball fit as it should. Not exactly like the one I had with the “puck” kit but I called 3 trailer dealerships, Napa, looked online and this is the only one that I could buy just the ball not the whole kit. In general, buy a B&W hitch next time to avoid this all together.
The C60629 gooseneck ball did not work with the DEMCO RECON fifthwheel hitch in my 2020 GMC 2500HD pickup. However upon talking with reps from your company I was able to order a different ball C60601 designed for Ford and GM trucks and it works fine with my new hitch, part no. DM8550045.
The first ball considered a "high rise" type was about an inch longer than the replacement (C60601) and the middle collar much thicker than the replacement ball.

Works as it should. However if I didn’t already have the stock receiver I would have put a turnover ball gooseneck on the truck. My old F-250 had a B&W turnover ball gooseneck in it and it was great. Didn’t have to store the ball someplace or clean out the hole ever time I need to put in the ball.
I could only find the Curt Pop-In Ball for my gooseneck horse trailer one place locally and it was almost twice the cost of the ball I ordered from etrailer. The ordering process and delivery from etrailer was quick and simple. I expect to do more business with etrailer in the near future.

I bought the C60601 25/16" ball and the C60608 chain anchors
for my '17 f350 King Ranch. If you got the picture I have put
them in a water proof hard case so they won'the rattle.
The case can't weigh more than 3# and the whole thing
weighs 19.5 lbs. They are good looking and heavy duty pieces
of equipment and would cost about 21/2 times that much
at the dealership.
I will use them for my 24ft gooseneck in hauling my tractors
and hay on occasion.

Still working great after a year. I Put a bit of lubricant once in a while. Its expensive so I have to remove when not in use as it can easily be stolen.
