Question:
Hello, I am interested in replacing the bedroom roof mounted ac + heatpump. This unit is controlled by a Duo Therm Comfort Control. I would like to replace it with a unit that is compatible with the existing controller. What do you suggest?

Hey Michael! All of the new AC systems require complete replacement so you won't be able to use them with that existing controller. Everything switched to R32 refrigerant in 2025 due to EPA regulations. These systems use different communication protocols so they aren't backwards compatible.
For an AC with a heat pump I recommend the Furrion Chill Cube. This uses a variable speed compressor making it incredibly efficient and quiet. It also has a remote which acts as the thermostat. This is handy to have for a bedroom unit and simplifies installation. You can choose from the following based on color:
-Furrion Chill Cube RV AC w/ Heat Pump - Ducted - 18K Btu - White - R32 # FR67TQ
-Furrion Chill Cube RV AC w/ Heat Pump - Ducted - 18K Btu - Black - R32 # FR97TQ
Where are you headed next with your Monaco once you get the AC replaced?

Hello Robin, Thanks for getting back to me. Is there a smaller unit available? The current unit is 13.5k. If I disconnect the old unit, and deadhead the wires, with the exception of the 115 v power, will the other devices (front ac, furnace) continue to work? I would use the remote to operate the new bedroom unit. Thanks!
