What Replaces Atwood Gas Control Valve 91602 for an RV Water Heater?

Hi Trent,

I know this probably isn't the answer you were hoping for, but unfortunately there isn't a direct replacement for the Atwood 91602 gas control valve. That part has been discontinued, and I confirmed with Dometic that there isn't a compatible replacement available.

The 91602 gas control valve was specific to certain Atwood water heaters, including gas only models AT94180, AT94191, AT96110, AT96121, and AT96136, along with gas and electric models AT94022, AT94023, AT94186, AT96117, AT96161SU, and AT96163. Since the replacement valve is no longer made, replacing the entire water heater is really the only long term solution if the gas control valve has failed.

If you're considering replacing the water heater, I'd recommend the Furrion RV Tankless Water Heater, part # FR98SR. It comes with a 16 inch by 16 inch access door and provides continuous hot water, so you don't have to wait for a tank to recover between showers. It's also more efficient than the older tank style water heaters, making it a great upgrade if you're ready to replace the unit.

Just so I can make sure that's the best option, what model Atwood water heater do you currently have, and what do you use the hot water for most in your RV?
