Converting ATC Cargo Trailer From 5-Lug to 6-Lug Hubs

Hi etrailer! I have an ATC cargo trailer with stock 15 5 lug wheels that Id like to upgrade to 16 to fit some bigger tires I have. That, of course, means I have to go to 6 lug bolt pattern wheels though. Do you all have the parts to convert my current lugs to be 6 lug so I can get wheels that work? I took picture of one of the axle stickers its a tandem and its a dexter d35 dex7802158. I can send the pictures via email if you want them to confirm. Thanks, Jacob

Hey Jacob, thanks for reaching out. Yes, we do have the parts you need for this. The best way to make your axle compatible with 6-lug wheels is by simply swapping out the 5-lug hubs for a 6-lug. Your Dexter D35 axle is a standard 3,500 lb axle, so assuming it has electric brakes/drums you'll need the following:
- Easy Grease Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly for 3.5K Axles - 10" - 6 on 5-1/2 - Pre-Greased # AKHD-655-35-EZ-K
Or if you just need idler hubs, you can use this:
- Easy Grease Trailer Idler Hub Assembly for 3.5K Axles - 6 on 5-1/2 - Pre-Greased # AKIHUB-655-35-EZ-K
You'll also want to keep your fender clearance in mind since you are switching over to bigger tires and wheels. Ideally you want at least 3" between the tire and the fender, and at least 1" between the inside of the tire and the trailer frame. Just make sure you'll have adequate clearance with the new tires and you'll be good to go.

These hubs are awesome and complete with everything except castle nut and washer, I installed them on my 2 horse trailer that has 3500lb axles and electric brakes. Takes longer to get brakes back adjusted than it does to install new hubs. I now carry a spare in case one smokes so I’m not stranded like before in BFE????
