Is the threaded hitch pin that comes with the anti-rattle device designed the replace the regular hitch pin? It doesnt seem like it is strong enough.

Yes, the threaded hitch pin included with the Curt Anti-Rattle Kit for Hollow Shank Accessories # C69HR is designed to replace the standard hitch pin and clip. Once tightened, it pulls the accessory shank against the inside of the receiver to reduce movement and noise.

This kit is designed for hitch mounted accessories with hollow shanks, such as bike racks and cargo carriers.

If you do happen to have a solid shank, etrailer Anti-Rattle Hitch Collar # e38FV is a great choice for those hitch receivers.

What accessories did you plan on using with the anti-rattle?

Yes, it works the same way but stops the rattling. I’ve used it a couple of times and works slick so far.

It works perfectly. No rattles I have been using it for several months. The only downside I can think of is removing the receiver Regularly will be more time-consuming. since you have to unscrew it instead of just pull a pin. I do not remove the receiver very often so it’s not a problem for me.

We have used our now for about 2 years. I use it to stop any wiggle on our e-bike rack. It has stopped any rattle and wiggle of the e-bikes. I highly recommend it.

Tom, we have a similar use case. We are using the Anti-Rattle kit to hold a 6" Hitch high-low adaptor (like this: https://www.etrailer.com/Accessories-and-Parts/CURT/C26FV.html) into the vehicle receiver. Then, we put a tilt-a-rack carrier (like this: https://www.discountramps.com/mobility_scooter_carrier/p/500ARV/) into the adaptor. The wheelchair itself is a used PerMobil M3 (older version, not the Corpus), about 350 lbs., and we use 4 ratchet straps between the ramp and the tie-down points on the wheelchair to hold it in place. This is maybe too much for common use; our vehicle is a 2000 Dodge Sport Grand Caravan and that much weight that far aft definitely tilts the vehicle back. When we put the rack on, we take out the mid and back-row seats and the load-leveling suspension helps after a mile or two, but we still have to plan our route to avoid speed bumps and crossing crowned streets, and we have not made any long high-way trips at all. Without the high-low adaptor, the tilt-a-rack rode only a few inches off the pavement and even a small bump would cause it to scrape; the extra 6 inches up is worth it even though it shifts the load about 8 inches *further* aft. There's plenty of flexibility in the system, mostly in the Tilt-a-Rack, and we (nervously) watch in the rear-view mirror as the wheelchair sways around when we go over almost any bump. But, with the Anti-Rattle kit (and the bolt that holds the Tilt-A-Rack into the adaptor), there is not any noticeable rattle in the system. The Anti-Rattle kit fits snugly, tightens most of the way with just fingers, and finishes out with a large box-end wrench (a large enough socket wrench might also work if I had one, but there's not a lot of access in our set-up). Its clip snaps on and off easier than anything else in the system and seems to stay put securely. When we first got the Anti-Rattle kit, the flanges that keep it in place inside the High-Low adaptor when it's not bolted into the receiver were just a bit loose; it was easy to bend the flanges out just a bit to hold it securely. Since then, it has worked without any problems at all. I recommend it and would buy another if I had to re-create our system. I hope this is useful!
