Looking For Replacement Gearbox For Venture 142178 Landing Gear On 2018 Forest River XLR 5th Wheel

Question:
I have a 2018 Forest River XLR Boost fifth wheel, 33 foot. Recently, when raising the landing gear, it will randomly make click noises. I was watching it, and when the click happens, theres a slight pause in the rotation of the horizontal square bar that connects to the secondary leg side. I pulled the motor+gearbox assembly, its manufactured by Venture, LCI PN 142178. I havent opened the gearbox yet, but i am suspecting it might be some worn gears. Is there a replacement gearbox for this? Am I on the right path?

Hey Brad, thanks for reaching out. Yea it definitely sounds like you are on the right track here. The fact that the motor keeps running but you're seeing a momentary pause in the cross shaft when the click happens is a pretty good sign that something in the drive system is slipping under load. A worn or damaged gearbox is definitely a possibility, especially if the noise is coming from the motor/gearbox assembly itself. The Venture gearboxes are known to wear over time, and a chipped gear tooth or worn reduction gear can create exactly the kind of intermittent click-and-pause you're describing.
That said, we do offer a replacement gearbox for the Venture 142178 landing gear. For that you'll need the following:

Also check the gears on the legs. Mine had chipped teeth and would jump a cog .
