Really good question Scott, thanks for reaching out!
For an unloaded ride, most have little to no difference during normal driving. The Timbren springs are designed to sit just above the axle, allowing the factory suspension to work normally until a load is applied. Once the truck squats under tongue weight or cargo, the Timbrens engage and provide additional support.
Timbren Suspension Enhancement System # TFRSDJ is a great option for reducing rear end sag and improving stability when towing heavy loads. It really helps reduce sway, body roll, and rear squat.
So for a truck that regularly pulls a large toy hauler, the Timberens are an excellent maintenance free solution that improves towing performance without significantly affecting ride quality when unloaded.
What are you usually hauling with the F450?

Hey Scott, I have a 2023 F-450 pulling a 45-foot toy hauler, and the Timbren suspension definitely helps level the load when towing. For everyday driving, there’s about a ½- to ¾-inch gap between the Timbren rubber springs and the axle. Because of that, when you hit railroad tracks or rough roads, you can feel the suspension engage as that gap closes. The ride is a bit firmer, and you’ll notice it on bigger bumps. That said, when the truck is loaded, the difference is impressive. The truck feels much more stable and controlled, with significantly less squat. We’re full-time RVers, and for us, the improvement in towing performance has been well worth it. We have no regrets about the purchase.
