Features to know about

Stay Level and Confident: Up to 1,000 lbs of Rear Suspension Support

When a heavy load makes the rear end sag, handling and braking can start to feel off. These SumoSprings Solo helper springs add up to 1,000 lbs of support at 50-percent compression to keep your ride level and steady. They help your factory suspension carry the weight so your headlights stay aimed right and your steering feels solid even when towing or hauling.

Side-by-side comparison of installed SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs showing uncompressed and compressed states on a vehicle rear suspension

Smooth Out Bumps and Shocks: Progressive Load Control

The microcellular urethane design compresses easily under light loads for smooth contact and a softer ride, then stiffens up as weight increases. That progressive action cushions bumps when the bed is empty and delivers firm support when it’s full, keeping comfort and control consistent no matter what you’re carrying.

Handle Uneven Loads with Ease: Independent Spring Action

Each spring works on its own to balance side-to-side weight differences and cut down on body roll in turns. That means better stability when cornering, backing into campsites, or driving through crosswinds—your vehicle stays balanced even if the load isn’t.

Built Tough for Real Conditions: Maintenance-Free Urethane Construction

These durable microcellular urethane springs resist abrasion, oil, salt, and UV damage and perform in temperatures from -25 F to 200 F. They compress vertically with minimal side expansion so nothing gets in the way of moving parts. With no air lines or pressure to manage, they’re completely maintenance-free once installed.

Simple Bolt-On Setup: No Drilling Required

The custom design fits securely with a no-drill installation using basic tools. Two jounce-style springs are included, giving you an easy upgrade that delivers lasting suspension support without complicated setup or upkeep.

Delivered as promised and very easy to install. I will use etrailer.com again.

Ford Transit Connect
I think they definitely increased handling. I might should have ordered the next stronger summo spring set. I am pretty happy with the summo springs overall after I upgraded my rear shocks to Bilstein B6 4600HD shocks on my Ford Transit T250.
by:
Nissan Leaf
Compared to airbags or fabricating a new set of leaf springs, this is an attractive and inexpensive option.

Very good product, very nice people and the sumo springs came on time. I am very happy.
Thank you for all the information.

This only pertains to the order, shipping speed, and install as I have not put a heavy load on these sumo Springs yet but I feel like that's a foregone conclusion based off the reviews already. The ordering process, the shipping, and the installation was unbelievably easy. I kept rereading the instructions thinking this can't be right because it was so simple. I looked at the YouTube video and realized it is that simple! So happy with the ordering process, the quality of the initial product I opened, and how simple it was to put on the jeep.

That is the beauty of SumoSprings! Super easy to install and once they're on you can forget they're there! Are you planning on towing something with your Jeep that you want extra support for?

@ClaireH yes Ms Claire. I plan to put a truck camper on the Jeep (that weighs in the 500-1000 lbs range). My payload is 1700 lbs so I know a camper of the weight will be significant my truck. Already ordered a stiffer rear anti-sway bar as well.

@Justin That sounds like a good plan! These SumoSprings plus the sway bar should be more than enough to handle the weight of your truck bed camper.

2013 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited
I put these on a 2013 Jeep JK (not lifted) that tows a 3000 lb trailer in rough terrain; Total game changer.

These replaced the anemic factory stops (which had completely disintegrated) and make it impossible to 'bottom out' on the dips and holes that use to beat up the suspension. I got nearly all of my vertical travel back and the vehicle now sits almost level under high tongue load.

They go on pretty easy. I suggest sliding in one side, and then using a wooden dowel and hammer to pop the other side in the stock receiver cup.

Highly recommended. These are a MUST if you are towing a trailer (with a medium sized SUV) of any significant weight or if you just want to be able to bounce hard without bottoming out your suspension. I am likely going to get the front suspension version now as well.
Wish I knew these existed sooner.

2025 Promaster 2500 159” wheelbase. Backed the van on couple 2” X 6 “ easier sliding under. Sprayed PB Blaster on top of bumper spring, using a 16” Channel Lock, easy off with the old. At that time I jacked the rear end to allow clearance. One side at a time. Took longer for set up then the job. I used the long bolt with two spacers. Have not drove yet, though looking for great results.

Glad to hear the install wasn't too bad, Michael! Definitely let us know how the ride is once you take it out for a drive! What are you using your Van for? The tires look pretty beefy.

Love them! The truck barely even squatted, had two dirt bikes, and a generator in the bed as well! It handles the bumps and sway great

Product is great, exceeded my expectations. Install is simple and straightforward. It’s a night and day difference in both the body roll and the handling small bumps all the way up to off-road conditions.

2000 Nissan Leaf
Great product! Bought these for my 2000 7.3 f250. Didn't want something that is constantly active like ras or hellwig since my leaf springs are new and rated for 4k pounds. Installed these in 1 hr super simple only hard part was the factory bump stop on driver side was a pain. Didn't install the puck they give due to height of truck and I knew more or less at what point I wanted them engaging. I haul cattle to shows/ auctions or between pastures with my 24ft big bend and these things actually provided a smoother ride in my truck loaded then unloaded.they do a great job with the added support and are better than an overload spring with handling sway and providing a smooth ride loaded. Just wish I could use the 3k pound rated ones on this truck and my dually but doesn't fit if you have a gooseneck sadly so will probably have to go with timbs on the drw. Over all great product can't speak to longevity but solid for the time being. And customer service with this company is excellent if you have a question or problem they're on top of it...hope they pay them as well as the reputation they're building for them.

Thanks for the awesome feedback, Jeff! Love hearing that the install was a breeze and that you noticed such a big difference in handling, that’s exactly what you want after the upgrade. Really appreciate you sharing the photos too, it’s always fun to see the comparison.

I put a set of 47s on my Silverado 1500 and towed my dump trailer that weighed 6000 pounds the way I had it loaded for 50 miles on all kinds of roads and it worked well. I didn’t use the spacers and the truck still rides like it did before the install.

Glad the Sumos are helping make your loads easier to tow!

by:
Jeep Gladiator Mojave - swapped out the rear stock bump stops with these. High quality parts. Just jack up the truck enough to give you room to work with and put in your jack stands, no need to remove the wheels. I look forward to seeing how they do with towing! Hopefully I can update my review here afterwards. Check out the gap difference in the pictures. Should touch sooner during normal drive conditions and hopefully help reduce some trailer squat and help towing to be smoother.
by:
Opted for the Blue 1000lb Sumo's w/spacer over the 1500lb Black ones. 1500 Silverado Max Tow & reduces squatting by 2" on a 1000lb+ tongue weight. Ride is still good, but you can feel the Sumo's engage over large dips or bumps which is not an issue for me.

I got the springs installed last week and wanted to have a drive time before I wrote the review.

The height of the springs are perfect for my 2016 Tacoma, They keep the truck stable and nearly eliminate the body roll I had before installing them. I am heading to the mountains in a couple weeks, so I will update the review when I get back. That way I will know for sure the body roll is gone and the truck is stable on the winding mountain roads.

The springs installed in no time at all and since I had the rear end apart, I decided to add the leveling blocks at the same time, to keep the truck from squatting with the gear I haul around with me.

The guys at etrailer are great. And while I did not call them to discuss this item, they have been very helpful in the past with all my questions.

Below are pictures of before, a couple comparisons and after. Sorry if they come out sideways.

These Sumo Springs were a great addition to my Tacoma and well worth the money, IMHO.

The springs are working exactly as expect. I have need up to the mountains numerous times and to Monerary to the Sea Otter bike fest. They have reduced the body roll and helped keep the truck stable on the mountain roads or when loaded down for camping. Im very pleased I added these Sumo Springs to my Tacoma.

2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
Have Nissan NV 1500 (transit van).Loads and trailers were the problem-along with the constant "slouch" look-with no really heavy load on it. Hated that!
These used with "add-on leaf springs" made a world of difference.
Bumps being felt, are there, but nothing like before. These two things along with new shocks (all for back),has helped out so much!
So, the bumps have almost faded to "nothingness". Now granted, I have not hit a massive pothole, yet. I try to dodge those anyhow!
Components work great together!
by:
Got them installed no issues the reason for 4 stars is one side touches top of axle the other side does not no one could tell me if this was right or wrong also haven't pulled 5th wheel yet to feel the ride or handling so we will see thanks

2024 Ford F-250 Super Duty
Definitely helps with squat on '24 F250 from boat trailer tongue weight. These do come with a plate to avoid uneven contact or wear.
I mounted using all spacers , stock is same unless speed bumps or large dips, u feel the stiffness/contact of sumo as expected. May take one spacer out .
Super easy to install , better than leaking bags.
Time will tell how they last

Glad to hear they are helping, Cory! If you are feeling them going over speed bumps, I think taking one of the spacers out is a good idea. Especially if that is happening when you are unloaded. Speaking of which, what are you towing?

2021 Nissan Titan
I had installed this model SumoSpring on my 2019 4Runner and had great results when towing the camper I had at the time. They greatly reduce the bounce when going over dips in the road at highway speeds. Now I have a 2021 Titan and a bigger heavier camper. I expect the same great results on the Titan. Installation was pretty straight forward and took about a half hour. The size difference between the OEM bump stops and the SumoSprings alone should give a better ride when towing my camper.

I bought a 2027 RAM 1500 to tow my 20' 5000lb Forest River. Easy to install. I did it in my driveway in 1.5hrs. Some of the bolts were dificult to access due to mufflers etc but a short wrench worked well. When I first hooked up my trailer I had 4" of rear bed setelment. With springs installed I had less than 2". Front lift is about 1/2". Did not compromise driving comfort and appeared to dampen trailer "flex" on RxR tracks etc. My right handled very well on a trip from S Florida to N Georgia on Interstates and secondary roads.

  • Best Suspension Enhancement Recommendation to Improve Ride Quality of 2024 Ford Transit T250
Hey Frank, we have what you are looking for to improve the ride quality of our 2024 Ford Transit T250 with the Roadactive kit part # RAS3623-HD, but the SumoSprings kit would not be what you are looking for. It might help a little bit but not enough to make it worth the investment. The Roadactive kits are only option that improve ride quality loaded and unloaded as well as improve handling as well. How would you describe the ride quality currently?

  • Rear Suspension Enhancement that Fits 2019 Ford Transit Towing Trailer
Hey Malachi, are you looking for a lift kit or suspension enhancement that gets rid of suspension sag when the rear suspension has weight on it? While we don't have any lift kits but we do have suspension enhancement kits like the part # SSR-121-40 which will get rid of sag when towing. What trailer are you towing.

All of this should help to keep your equipment from bouncing in the back. We can definitely find a suspension enhancement that will work for your 2015 Ford Transit T350. My first suggestion would be to take care of your suspension first if you think there is a problem. None of the suspension enhancements are designed to help a vehicle that has suspension that does not work properly. Once that is taken care of, you can look at the different options. The SumoSpirings # SSR-121-40 offers 1000 lbs of additional support and the # SSR-121-47 would give 1500 lbs of additional support. The # SSR-121-47 would provide the best compromise between the needed support without making your motorhome ride like a buckboard,...

I do have an option for you but there are not air springs available for the 2017 Thor Class B Gemini on the Ford Transit Chassis.
