Im buying a Cougar 26rke with h a Curt Helux pin box. I would like to get a lighter weight 5th wheel hitch for my truck. It is a 2025 short bed F250 with 5th wheel prep package. I was looking at the Curt crosswing but it sounds like its not compatible with that pin box. What would you recommend?

Congrats on buying a new camper!
You are correct that the Curt CrossWing is not compatible with the Curt Helux pin box, so I would cross that one off the list for your setup.
Since you have a 2025 Ford F-250 standard size bed with the factory 5th wheel prep package and a Cougar 26RKE, I would personally go with the B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Hitch for Ford Super Duty Prep Package # BWRVK3300. When it comes to fifth wheel hitches, B&W is hard to beat. Not only is the build quality excellent, but if you ever have an issue, I know B&W will take care of you.
Your Cougar is well within the capacity range of the Companion, and with the newer Cougar front cap design, I would feel comfortable running a fixed hitch on your short bed truck.
One thing I really like about the Companion is that you can remove it in two pieces to make it easier to handle. The head weighs just under 70 lbs and the base is around 86 lbs, which is much nicer than wrestling with one giant heavy hitch. Or if you have a hoist, you could use the B&W 5th Wheel Lifting Device for Companion and Patriot Hitches # BWRVXA3130 to get the hitch in and out (see attached image).
I think you will be really happy with that setup once you get everything hooked up. So where are you headed for the first trip?
