Question:

I’m looking for airbags and compressor for a 2023 Chevrolet 2500 high country diesel 6.6 with Bilstein 5100 8B rear shocks towing 28 foot airstream with a tongue weight of 1000 pounds and trailer weight of 7500 pounds using an air shocker hitch. I tow 2 to 3 times a year and anywhere from a week to a month at a time. My truck is also my every day driver.

Hello Desiree, thanks for reaching out. We have just the thing! For your 2023 Chevy 2500 High Country Diesel I recommend the following:

- Firestone Ride-Rite Air Bags w/ Easy Mount Compressor - Wireless Control - Single Path - 5,000 lbs # F64XV

This is a complete kit so you get the 5,000 lb air bags and wireless compressor.

5,000 lbs of load support will be more than enough to level out your ride when you're hauling your Airstream. Firestone Ride-Rite air bags will work fine with Bilstein shocks on a 2023 Chevy 2500. The air bags and shocks don’t interfere with each other because they mount in different locations and do different jobs. That's actually a pretty common combo for trucks hauling larger trailers. Plus, with your shocker hitch in the mix, that's gonna be a super solid setup that will ride and handle great.

Then when you are doing your daily driving you can lower the pressure in the bags down to 5 PSI. This way the unloaded ride won't be too rough. Having the wireless compressor will be great too because you can make all those adjustments on the fly thru the Firestone app on your smartphone.

Will you be installing this yourself? Where are you headed first once you get everything set up?

Hi, hope this helps. I bought the exact item below for a very similiar setup. I am towing with a 2023 gmc 2500 6.6 diesel denali. It has the towing package but needed some additional support for our cross country summer trips. We haul our 40 ft 5th wheel from North Dakota into southern California every summer. The install was easy, I suggest getting a farm jack after getting the rear wheels off the ground. You can use the farm jack to lift the hitch more to get the tires at a dead hang. Easier to install and gives additional clearance. Plan your electrical before installing. I routed mine along the passenger side up the wheel well but behind the fender covers, keeps it away from hot moving parts. The air lines tend to show air leak after first installing even after reconnecting everything, pushing in firmly and with clean pipe cuts. I fixed this by adding some weight to the truck and pressurizing to 40 psi and all the seals were closed. I mapped my manual air inlet to the bracket that holds the spare with the cable tie and hook. It looks like it's supposed to be there. Knowing where to install the electrical pressure guage and sensor was a brain teaser. I did mine under the spare to protect from water and debris, plus I'll know I won't get the water level that high because it is higher than the exhaust. Sad news for the no drill frame kit. You have about 2 locations to mount that no drill kit and it is no where convenient or out of harms way. That's why I choose behind the spare tire. Watch out for the air bag nipple that needs to be completely inserted before tighten all the bolts and where to place the heat shield and sleeves. Other than that, lots of good etrailer install videos available and the bluetooth remote works every time. Don't blindly clear the fault codes if you get one, screenshot and find the log entry to be 100% of the error. Good luck and happy camping.
