Galvanized Replacement Jack For A Rusty Boat Trailer Jack On Galvanized Boat Trailer

Published 05/18/2026

Question:

The jack on my galvanized boat trailer is getting rusty and stiff, and I’d like to replace it with something that won’t be such a pain at the ramp. I mostly launch in freshwater, but it still gets wet all the time.

Hey Mike! For a wet boat trailer environment, I’d go with the etrailer Sidewind Aluminum Jack with Wheel - Swivel Bolt - 1.5K # e95YV.

This one is built with an aluminum body and stainless steel hardware, so it’s a better fit around water than a typical painted steel jack. It has a 1,500 lb capacity, 12" of travel, and the wheel you’ll want for lining the trailer up in the garage, driveway, or at the ramp.

You also get the drill option with the included 19mm socket, which is a big help if your current jack has been wearing your arm out. Just use a regular non-impact drill to avoid damaging the jack threads. Mike, what size boat is on the trailer?
