Custom Base Plate for a 2014 Honda CR-V

Updated 05/18/2026 | Published 05/15/2026

Question:

What base plate do you recommend for a Falcon all terrain tow bar. I have the invisibrake system to mount on the new 2014 Honda CR-V.

Thanks for your question, Donald!

The best base plate for your 2014 Honda CR-V when using a Roadmaster Falcon All-Terrain would be the Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit # RM-521567-5. One thing to note is that this base plate will not fit models with the extra bumper trim package or brush guards.

I’m not sure if you’re carrying over parts from another vehicle to your CR-V, so I’ll include the parts that would help with that, along with the parts needed specifically for your setup.

Second Vehicle Kit for Roadmaster InvisiBrake Flat Tow Brake System # RM-98700
Roadmaster Brake-Lite Relay Kit # RM-88400
Roadmaster Universal Hy-Power Diode Wiring Kit # RM-152
Roadmaster 6-Wire Trailer Connector # RM-910030-7

Lastly, you will have to pull one or two fuses while towing. You’ll want to check your owner’s manual to confirm which ones need to be pulled.

If your owner’s manual says to pull only the #19 ACC radio fuse, use part # RM76511.
If it says to pull both the #19 ACC radio fuse and the #20 ACC key lock fuse, use part # RM76512.

What vehicle did you flat tow before?

We flat towed the same car before, a 2014 Honda cr-but we used the Stowmaster tow bar. Since the car was totaled we can’t get anything off the old car for the new car. We used the brake master braking system before but bought the invisibrake and Falcon All terrain to use on the new car.

@DonaldB I installed this base plate myself and was quite impressed with the fit and instructional video E-trailer has on their site. I also put on the Roadmaster 6-Diode Universal Wiring Kit, BrakeBuddy Towed Vehicle Battery Charge Line Kit, Replacement Breakaway Kit for Brake Buddy, and the Pollak 6-Pole, Round Pin, Trailer Wiring Socket. The entire job was intimidating but it came out perfect! All the parts work as they should and the little bit of support I needed from e-trailer was spot on!

@DonaldB I'm sorry to hear about your first car, hopefully it wasn't a super stressful process for you to deal with. You're really going to like using the Falcon All Terrain, it makes hooking and unhooking much easier. It was always my go-to recommended tow bar because it made hooking up easy but didn't have all the added bells and whistles some others have. I forgot to mention that it may be a good idea to install a charge line kit # RM-88400. It will keep your CR-V's battery charged since the InvisiBrake will be pulling power from your vehicle's battery. It will prevent a dead battery on long travel days. Do you have any upcoming trips planned?
