Features to know about

Made for a Clean Front End: Tabless Design with Removable Arms

If you want a clean, factory look when you’re not towing, this base plate makes it happen. The tabless setup keeps the front of your vehicle free of bulky brackets or a crossbar. The tabs stay on your tow bar, so there’s nothing sticking out from the bumper when you’re driving around town. Snap-in high-density polyethylene covers keep dirt and debris out of the receivers so the arms always slide in and out smoothly.

Hook Up Fast and Secure: Twist-Lock with Pull Pin Safety

Connecting your tow bar only takes a few seconds. Just insert each arm into the receiver, twist to lock, and drop in the pull pin to secure it. When it’s time to disconnect, pull the pin, twist again, and slide the arm out—it’s that simple. The design makes solo hookups quick and consistent whether you’re at home or on the road. Bracket spacing measures 21" center to center with a bracket height of 16", so you can line up your setup with confidence.

Built Strong for the Long Haul: Steel Construction That Spreads the Load

The sturdy steel build bolts directly to your vehicle’s chassis, spreading towing forces evenly to help reduce strain on the suspension. There’s no welding required, and the dependable design gives you peace of mind on long trips. It’s a solid platform that stays tight and reliable through miles of towing.

Keep Your Existing Tow Bar: Compatible with Multiple Brands

Already have a tow bar you like? This kit works with all Demco Victory Series tow bars right out of the box and can adapt to Demco Kwik-Tow and other manufacturers’ tow bars with the right adapter (sold separately). If you’re using Roadmaster or Blue Ox equipment, Demco offers matching adapters like e98983, DM9523128 with DM9523036, or DM9523062 depending on your tow bar model. The included electrical bracket lets you mount a round connector plug neatly up front for a clean, organized setup.

DIY-Friendly Setup: Bolt-On Install with Hardware Included

You don’t need welding gear or specialized tools—this base plate bolts securely to the chassis using standard hardware that’s already included in the kit. Clear instructions walk you through each step, making it approachable for a weekend DIY project. Once installed, it stays put permanently so you can focus on traveling instead of re-mounting gear every trip.

by:

Now that I have actually used the tow bar and base plates I am very happy with my purchase. Sets up easy and when not in use the cover plates make for a great appearance on the truck.

by:

Order was shipped and received timely. Both products purchased look to be well made. Haven’t installed yet currently using a demco set up on a 2001 Cherokee sport. Up graded to a 2020 wrangler needing a new base plate and lighting. Eager to install on the new buggy!

by:

Straight forward install. I have towed the Maverick about 7000 miles with no issues. The pins are a wee bight tight when mating to my Blue Ox tow bar. But that is loosening with time. A nice improvement would be a heavy duty mount for the umbilical plug

by:

Lock tight both TUBES hard as a rock.
YOU
Don't need lock tight at all as all threads in the nuts are lousy and no way to hand start anything. Had to run 4 or 5 bolts through each nut with an impact to free them up a bit. They should have piolet starter on each bolt and all threads should be clear enough for a hand start. This kit worked well as it does not require the bumper to be removed. BUT: LOUSEY BOLTS AND NUTS ADDED AT LEAST 30 MIN TO FIGHTING EVERY BOLT TO GET IT STARTED. 5 STARS FOR THE KIT. 1/2 STAR FOR THE BOLTS WITHOUT PIOLET AND NUTS THAT CAN NOT BE HAND STARTED.

by:

I use only Demco baseplates as they are the only brand that mount with no cutting or drilling. The Excalibar tow bar is very well made and handles my Jeep Gladiator with ease. It's also very simple and easy to hook and unhook. The excellent "how to" videos from etrailer sure helped me make the correct purchase decision.

by:

Was able to install without issues using 2 washers between base plate and the upper brace and none on the bottom, otherwise followed the video. Works great!

by:

Just installed the Demco Tabless Base Plate and included 6 pin wire bracket. It was very straightforward and anyone who is a little mechanically inclined, can do it with ease. The etrailer video was incredibly helpful. I followed it step by step and had no issues. I love that it is a direct bolt-to-frame base plate and does not need any modifications. I spent a bit more time cutting out the gravel guard to form-fit the tabless connectors. The adapters are sleek and blend right in to the front end. Love how it turned out.

by:

I would give the tow bar a minus numberif possible. I bought it in hopes of not cutting up the shutter housing on my 2025 Maverick Hybrid. Well the bolt holes did not line up. I spoke with the Demco Engineers about the issue and they said that I must have a bent frame. My vehicle was two weeks old from the manufacturing date and all the rest of the pieces in the front assembly fit perfectly from Ford. I lad less then 200 miles on the unit. I made some cuts in the bar to allow more movement with the approval of Demco and still I could not get the front facia on. I called installers and they said they just cut away whatever is needed to get a tow bar on. None that I talked to at 3 places had as yet done this model installation. E trailer accepted my return and I put a roadmaster bar on.

by:

I gave this 5 stars based on design and durability.Installation, however, is somewhere between 3 and 4 stars. Installation can be a real challenge, and even the best back yard mechanic might be a tad frustrated. The biggest problem in installation is NOT installing but getting ready to install. Removal od the tow bar hooks took more time than installing the base plates. We're talking a 2018 F-150 XLT Sport 4X4 crew cab. The pics show the finished product and the location of the safety can\bles.

Fit perfectly, 2014 Honda Crv. what else to say?

by:

Great product , easy installation . It took longer then expected for delivery but the box arrived in good shape.

by:

Just received my order (two days earlier than I expected)... After inspecting the various boxes; my order seems to be complete...
I will absolutely be utilizing etrailer in the future and heartedly reccomend that others looking for quality trailering needs to look to etrailer for all your needs...

by:

It is well built, fit as expected. Easy to install. Warning to future buyers to install on crv, the hole you drill in bumper is difficult because it is high strenght steel regular drill bit do not work well. I managed to drill it with a step bit. The baseplate needs a small decal to say "this side upward"

by:

Thank you for your help in choosing the correct items needed. I got everything needed for a successful installation. The people that installed my baseplate were very happy with your instructions. They had never used a Demco product and were happy to have this great first experience !! Me too...Thank you!

by:

This is the third Demco baseplate I've purchased for three different tow vehicles, all were exceptional quality with very clear instructions as you can see in the photo it was a very involved install. Thanks for a very good product at a great price.

  • Difference Between Roadmaster Base Plates For 2012-2014 Honda CR-V
Hey Bob, The difference between the Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit # RM-521567-5 and Roadmaster Crossbar-Style Base Plate Kit # RM-521567-4 for a 2012-2014 Honda CR-V are just that the Crossbar-Style requires an added part for the tow bar. For example, if you got the Direct-Connect you could just use the Roadmaster Falcon All-Terrain Tow Bar # RM-522 as-is. But if you got the Crossbar-Style and used the Falcon you would also have to add the Quick Disconnect Crossbar Assembly...

Yes, the Demco Tabless Base Plate Kit # DM9519328 would be a compatible fit for both your 2014 Honda CR-V as well as the Commander Tow Bar # DM9511012. If you need help picking out any other components that you can't transfer over then let me know and I'd be happy to help. I do know that you'll have to pull the ACC RADIO 19 fuse in the Honda so I do recommend picking up the Roadmaster FuseMaster Fuse Bypass # RM76511 to make this process as easy as flipping a switch.

  • Can 2016 Honda CR-V Be Towed Behind a Motorhome
According to the 2016 Honda CR-V owner's manual, the vehicle isn't capable of being flat towed, so our vendors don't offer base plates for it. In order to tow the vehicle behind a motorhome, you can use a tow dolly if the vehicle is front wheel drive (FWD). For a tow dolly, I'd recommend the Foldable Kar Kaddy SS from Demco, part # DM9713045. The Kar Kaddy SS has a weight and tread width capacity that are compatible with your CR-V, so the vehicle will work perfectly with it. The dolly...
