If you care about keeping a clean, stock look when you’re not towing, this base plate makes that easy. The brackets sit far back in the grille so they stay out of sight and protected from scrapes, and once the removable arms are out, the setup is virtually invisible. You won’t have to deal with bulky hardware or shin-level obstructions—just remove the arms and it’s back to a factory look.
Connecting the tow bar is quick thanks to the twist-to-lock drawbars. Each arm slides into the bracket, clicks securely in place, and releases just as easily with an integrated pull ring. There’s no need for pins or tools when you’re setting up or unhooking. It’s simple, solid, and easy to handle whether you’re doing it solo or with a spotter.
The all-steel build is engineered for strength and precision. Computer-cut plates match the frame mounting points for a perfect fit, and the black powder coat finish resists corrosion through years of use. The design spreads towing forces evenly across the chassis so your setup stays tight and stable on long hauls.
This kit works with Roadmaster tow bars that use the quick-disconnect crossbar (part #910021-00, sold separately). Integrated mounting points make it easy to attach an electrical connector plug or bracket up front so your wiring stays organized and secure. The kit includes clear instructions and all required mounting hardware so you can bolt it on without welding or fabricating parts.

installation was relatively smooth. The youtube video was incredibly helpful. He installed this faceplate on my exact year, model (even color!) of my 2014 Honda CR-V. You need to have some decent mechanic and logic skills to do this or you will struggle.

Just received the base plate and wiring harness for my CRV. It came in a timely manner. I will know more when I install them, will update at that time.
The product of course is excellent because it is Road Master. But this company goes beyond excellent. We have ordered this base plate twice now and has always arrived 2 days after the order is placed-even if it's on a Sunday afternoon. Always great service & the staff responds quickly.

Excellent base plate. With the arms removed the installation is almost invisible. As usual delivered on time.
Received the product with little issue. It was lining up with my Roadmaster 5000 tow bar nicely. I have not installed the base plate on the vehicle yet so can't say how that will fit. But I anticipate it'll fit fine.
Delivery was as promised. The installation video was very helpful! Look at that before you start, even if you have printed out the instructions from Roadmaster. The top (slotted) holes had to be enlarged on the outboard side, other than that it went well. The twist in removable brackets are much better than the older ones on my 2003 Honda.

Called other supplier who wasn't aware of Roadmaster EZ4 Base Plate Kit. Went to etrailer.com and immediately found the Roadmaster EZ4 base plate listed on the etrailer.com web site. Called etrailer to confirm. Customer service representative was very courteous and knowledgeable of Roadmaster products. Placed order and received it promptly.
Roadmaster towing equipment is well made and some of the finest available. I also think highly of etrailer - they are very helpful and ship products promptly. I have purchased towing equipment from them in the past. All equipment and parts arrived in good order.
The instructions to install the mounting bracket (base plate) are well written, in color and easy to follow. In addition, it helps tremendously that etrailer has an installation video on their website.
I will install this bracket myself (2 - 3 hours work) and use it to tow a 2013 Honda CR-V. I am a happy camper.
I purchased a towing baseplate for my car. They also call it a tow bracket. (This enables me to tow my car behind a motorhome). Before I purchased from e trailer I shopped around and found that e trailer was the best priced. It was easy to order I received free shipping and delivery was prompt and on schedule. I was very pleased with the process. I wouldn't hesitate to do business with them again
The base plate kit was complete and well packaged. The on line video was very well done and provided exact details on how to install the base plate. I was able to put the whole thing on in less than 2 hours and the only trouble I had was reinstalling the plastic snap in rivets in the wheel wells. The base plate fit perfectly and drilling the holes was much easier to do than I thought it would be. I did not have a hoist and did the project on a gravel driveway. I would recommend using a lift or having access to a solid driveway and jack and jack stands to make it a little easier to take the plastic rivets on the bottom out but I would not hesitate to tackle this project again. Works very well on my 2012 Honda CRV. However, the wiring holder is obtrusive so I cut it off and used an alternative mounting method fo the wiring. Medium difficulty to install, but if you're handy and have the correct tools, it takes a couple of hours or so. Be sure to also buy the rubber inserts for looks and protection when not being towed.
I have to say etrailer is one of the best companies I have dealt with on the internet. They are the least expensive and the fastest responder I know of. And the Honda base plate installation was relatively easy. Took me a couple of days but since I'm retired I didn't push it. Besides, it's hotter'n heck here in southern Florida. Again, great company and great product.
Products were Roadmaster EZ4 Base Plate RM-521567-4 for my new toad, a 2014 Honda CRV and Roadmaster Guardian Rock Guard RM-4000. The best thing about this site is the instructional videos and installation guides, one stop shopping. Items arrived in good condition and as ordered. No pictures yet as I am just starting to install. I also bought the Hopkins custom tail light kit HM56304 (installation was easy) and Roadmaster FuseMaster RM76511 (installation was a little trickier). Great place to buy! Free shipping was fast.
Roadmaster baseplate for 2014 CRV- Product was well built and installation was easy with directions provided along with the video from etrailer. Installation took about 4 hours with taking my time. Have used for the full year with no problems.
This was part of many Roadmaster components I ordered from etrailer.com to set up my 2014 Honda CRV as a toad. Etrailer's website is excellent and their review videos and installation videos are very helpful. Their tech service department is excellent as well.
The baseplate is well made and weld quality is very good. Good design. Installing this product takes some pretty good mechanic skills. The installation video on etrailer's website is a must see. It is very helpful in locating on the pins, clips, and releases for the bumper fascia and grill. I am sure I would have broke something without this video. Instead, it went flawlessly. I Drove my CR-V upon a set of ramps and started tearing the front end off. Actually it was easier than I thought after watching and listing to the video.
The only hard part was drilling the 1/2 inch hole in the sub-frame of the car. I did not have to trim the vertical frame bolts off as shown in the video in my 2013 CR-V. It took me 5 hours to install the Kit on my Honda.
I have installed the base plate kit on my 2 previous TOADS, but I think If you can use a few tools this is not a very difficult job.
Watch the video for taking the fascia and grill off it's a little tricky, but it snaps right off and back on just like the video. Pay attention where the plastic trim clips go back in the front and fender well.
This new version (-4) with the twist on and off base plates is better than the older version (-1) I had before. It is much easier to put on and off the car for towing. My CR-V is black so with the plates off you can barely see the receivers.

The base plate for my 2014 Honda CRV was a perfect fit. I watched the installation video several times and then installed it myself and it went just as the instructions said. I have towed the CRV about 2800 miles without any problems. Great product at the best price.

No problems!
As always amazing fit. I did not agree with cutting the stuff frame bolt so I just used a few washers to get clearance i needed on passager side.
Had Base Plate installed today, shop gave me 2.5 hr labor time. I returned just under 2hrs and they were backing my car out the shop. They parked it facing me. I told the Mechanic "That was quick" He said that's because it wouldn't fit. I was disappointed and asked what do I owe you for your labor> He laughed out loud and said it on there, but hard to see. I was so surprised and pleased you have to just about get down on your knees and bend down to see it. took me about 8 min to install everything and connect it to the Tow vehicle. I'm very pleased with it.

ped everything offfor overnight at local shop that does all my work. They called me when it was ready next day,Base Plate fit fine with no installation issues. I have used a number of times now and its always been easy and quick to connect or disconnect, very happy with it.
Etrailer was very easy to do business with and made it simple to ship my order directly to the RV shop that was going to install it. This was my first order from them, but I will definitely consider future purchases from them if I'm in need of something for my RV.
