The drawbars, or front arms, on the crossbar-style series base plate kit are supremely easy to mount and remove. Just insert them into the brackets and twist to lock them in place. To remove, simply twist the arms back and pull them out. Once the drawbars have been removed, the remaining brackets are virtually invisible. On most automobiles, the brackets are mounted within the grille, where they remain not only unseen, but protected from scrapes and scuffs, as well.

  • Difference Between Roadmaster Base Plates For 2012-2014 Honda CR-V
Hey Bob, The difference between the Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit # RM-521567-5 and Roadmaster Crossbar-Style Base Plate Kit # RM-521567-4 for a 2012-2014 Honda CR-V are just that the Crossbar-Style requires an added part for the tow bar. For example, if you got the Direct-Connect you could just use the Roadmaster Falcon All-Terrain Tow Bar # RM-522 as-is. But if you got the Crossbar-Style and used the Falcon you would also have to add the Quick Disconnect Crossbar Assembly...

  • Parts Needed to Flat Tow 2014 Honda CR-V
There are a number of parts you're going to need in order to flat tow your 2014 Honda CR-V, starting with compatible base plates. I recommend the Roadmaster EZ4 Base Plate Kit # RM-521567-4 due to the clean look they'll give your Honda. For a tow bar I recommend going with the Roadmaster Falcon 2 Tow Bar # RM-520 because of how easy the tow bar is to connect to the base plates as well as its long arms, which make it easier to maneuver when towing; you will also need safety chains # RM-643. For...

  • Parts Needed to Flat Tow a 2014 Honda CR-V
The Roadmaster Falcon part # RM-520 is a very popular and great tow bar. You have the crossbar assembly part # 910021-00 that comes with it which means you can use either base plate kit you mentioned. The difference is that the EZ5 # RM-521567-5 does NOT require the use of that crossbar and the EX4 part # RM-521567-4 does. I prefer simpler installs that require fewer parts whenever available so if it were me I would go with the EZ5 part # RM-521567-5 which does not need the bar. I attached...

  • Can a Roadmaster StowMaster Tow Bar be Used with a Blue Ox Base Plate Kit
They do not make an adapter that will allow you to use a Roadmaster StowMaster Tow Bar part # RM-501 on a vehicle with a set of Blue Ox base plates. The Roadmaster tow bar to Blue Ox base plate adapters will only work for RV mounted tow bars and not vehicle mounted tow bars. The Roadmaster StowMaster Tow Bar is a vehicle mounted tow bar therefore will not work. This means you can either purchase a new tow bar like the Blue Ox Adventurer Tow Bar part # BX7322 or a new base plate kit like...

  • Difference Between Roadmaster EZ4 and EZ5 Base Plates for 2014 Honda CR-V
As you mentioned in your question, both the Roadmaster EZ4 # RM-521567-4 and EZ5 # RM-521567-5 Base Plate Kits are confirmed to fit your 2014 Honda CR-V. The primary difference between the two models is that the EZ5 does not use a quick-connect crossbar to attach to the tow bar. This will in turn provide a cleaner, less obtrusive look. The drawback, however, and why I tend to recommend the EZ4 model, is that the design will not accommodate many accessories that mount to the crossbar like...

  • Purchase and Installation of Flat Towing Package for 2013 Honda CR-V
Hello, while etrailer does not have a network of recommended shops the good news is that most all items are easily installed; any local shop with a reputation that meets your level of satisfaction should be qualified to provide expected results. However, are you aware that etrailer is located in Wentzville, MO less than an hours drive from High Ridge and we have installation bays? And, some items may be available for free installation. Please take a look at the # Local-Install link. For...

  • Can a 2012 Honda CR-V with Automatic Transmission be Flat-Towed Behind a Motor Home
Both the front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive versions of the 2012 Honda CR-V with automatic transmission can be flat-towed behind a motor home. Honda cautions that before flat towing your CR-V transmission fluid level and condition be checked. If you will flat tow often or for long periods (8 hours or more at a time), then it is suggested to change your transmission fluid at shorter intervals than specified in the manual. It is also necessary to follow a pre-drive conditioning process...

  • Recommended Items Needed To Flat-Tow 2013 Honda CR-V
There are five items needed when you flat-tow a vehicle. You will need base plates, a tow bar, safety cables, lighting for the CR-V, and most states now require a supplemental brake system. I will make some recommendations that will work with your 2013 CR-V. The base plates I recommend is the Roadmaster EZ4 Base Plate Kit, part # RM-521567-4. The 2013 Honda CR-V AWD (all wheel drive) cannot be towed on a tow dolly. The online owner's manual indicates on page 235 that the AWD must have all 4 wheels on the ground or all 4 off the ground when towed. Towing this vehicle on a dolly could result in damage to the AWD system. You might refer to your printed owner's manual just in case it differs from the online version I could access. The crossbar style of Roadmaster base plate kits like the part # RM-521567-4 do not actually come with a crossbar but instead attach to tow bars that have crossbars like the Roadmaster Falcon 2 part # RM-520. Or if you prefer not to use the crossbar attachment you can use a Direct Connect base plate kit like the part # RM-521567-5 which bypasses the crossbar attachment of the tow bar.
