Question:
How durable is this brake kit, will it stand up to a salt water marine environment? Will these sealed bearings replace my wet oil capped bearings?

Expert Reply:
Hey Mike! Yes, the Hydrastar Disc Brake Kit # HYD92FR will work well in a salt water marine environment. The Dacromet coated components do a great job holding up in salt water and help prevent corrosion. It uses a traditional grease hub with standard bearings and a grease seal, so it can replace an oil bath setup.
If you want the best corrosion protection, the DeeMaxx Disc Brake Kit # DE46YR is the better choice. This uses their Maxx Coat (Dacromet) along with stainless steel for the best protection in marine environments. You can pair these with the DeeMaxx Alpha G1600 # DE47SR and the brake line kit # DE24SR for a complete setup.
