Replacement Hardware for EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch part # EH53VR

Updated 05/11/2026 | Published 05/06/2026

Question:

I was wondering if you sold the hardware for this hitch individually? Can I just use the bolts already holding the bumper beam. I was gifted a EH53VR with no mounting hardware.

Hi Fernando,

We do have a replacement hardware kit part # RHK that you can order to get the replacement hardware for your EcoHitch. There is a box on the product page where you can put the hitch number so that way they know exactly what hardware they'll need to send you. I recommend putting in the EcoHitch part number # X7404, which is different than our etrailer part number # EH53VR but is the same hitch. I wouldn't suggest using the bumper bolts from your Prius to install the hitch because not all bolts are meant to be weight bearing.

What are you planning on carrying with your new EcoHitch?

Its for a heavy duty bike rack for e bikes. I just ordered the hardware replacement kit with the part number you suggested.

@FernandoC Sounds good! The EH53VR is rated for 375lbs tongue weight so you should be able to carry your e-bikes and the weight of the carrier with no problem!

The hitch work for us, utilizing a 2Up rack. Things to consider are clearance. Both height (ground) and proximity to the front of the vehicle, we purchased an extension that gave us 2” more ground clearance and adjustable extension. Which did reduce some of the weight capacity. Other concerns are reduced front visibility, ground clearance and increased drag.

@RichardO Ground clearance can be an issue with some sedans so the extension was a good idea, especially if your driveway has a decent grade to it. How long is the extension you use with the hitch?
