What set up do I need to flat tow 2022 jeep gladiator by a 2021 Thor windsport A class RV.

Hey Ripu, for your 2022 Jeep Gladiator I would recommend the Blue Ox base plate kit part # BLU53FR. I really like the Blue Ox setups as they are really well made and easy to use.

In addition to the base plates, you will also need a compatible tow bar, safety cables, lighting, and supplemental braking to flat tow your vehicle. One of the most popular compatible tow bars is the Blue Ox Avail # BX7420 which comes with safety cables. The coiled design helps keep the cables off of the ground.

For lighting you can use the diode kit, # RM-15267, and not have to worry about cutting into the taillight housing. This will splice into your taillight wiring to allow your tow vehicle to control the taillight assemblies of the towed vehicle. This comes with a round 6-way connector that you will install on the front of your towed vehicle and enough coiled wire to go from there to the RV.

And finally, most states now require supplemental braking in the vehicle being flat towed. The easiest system to set up and use is the Curt RVi Series 4 Portable Flat Tow Brake System # RVI44FR, that applies the vehicle brakes in proportion to how much the tow vehicle is braking. This is the safest way to stop and it reduces wear and tear on both vehicles.

We use the Blue Ox base plate on our 2023 Gladiator behind our 2018 Canyon Star along with the Blue Ox tow bar. Everything works very well and safe. Be sure to plan for a drop receiver in order to compensate for the height difference between vehicles in keeping your tow bar level (if your tow vehicle is stock height or not lifted). Jameson covered the necessary items well. I purchased those items and installed them on our 2026 Gladiator Sahara. If you install the items, take your time and follow their instructions and view their installation videos. They are very helpful. And of course if you have any questions you can give them a call. May you have many miles of safe towing!
